Happy Veterans Day
Today is Veterans Day, so this seems like a perfect opportunity to once again trash Senator Saxby Chambliss.

Chambliss, who won his senate seat in 2002 by comparing war veteran and triple amputee Max Cleland to Osama bin Laden, now has to face Democratic challenger Jim Martin in a run-off election, to be held in early December.

Back in 2002, John McCain was justifiably horrified by Chambliss' attack ad: "I'd never seen anything like that ad. Putting pictures of Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden next to the picture of a man who left three limbs on the battlefield -- it's worse than disgraceful. It's reprehensible."

That was then, this is now. John McCain is scheduled to be in Georgia on Thursday to campaign for Saxby Chambliss.

*SIGH*

Senator McCain, please don't do it. I beg of you, don't assist this man who in your heart you find "reprehensible". I understand that the Republicans want to hold on to this seat; let other national party figures align themselves with this scumbag. They already have Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin ready to go to Georgia to help Chambliss win. Let them sell their souls. Yes, the presidential campaign was vicious, but after your gracious, eloquent concession speech I thought you still had a reserve of human decency left. If you campaign for Saxby Chambliss, two days removed from Veterans Day, you'll have proved me wrong.

Hey bro, that guy's comments were completely disgraceful.

What confuses me though, is why no one, (other than John McCain) has asked Obama to apologize to our troops for accusing them of "air raiding villages and killing civilians." Where was the outrage from the left on this? Well, as could easily be predicted, no where to be found. I guess the Messiah can't be bothered to do something honorable, like apologize for calling our troops murderers.

vast,
there was no outrage from the left on that because it was a right wing talking point.

Here is Obama's full quote: "Now you have narco drug lords who are helping to finance the Taliban, so we’ve got to get the job done there, and that requires us to have enough troops that we are not just air raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there."

He got his information from Bush's Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, who said in September, 2007: "I offer all Afghans my sincere condolences and personal regrets for the recent loss of innocent life as a result of coalition air strikes. While no military has ever done more to prevent civilian casualties, it is clear that we have to work even harder."

Obama wasn't saying "Our troops are murderers." He was saying that we need more troops on the ground so they can do their job with less "collateral damage", a view shared by Bush's Defense Secretary.

There was no outrage from the right when Gates made that statement, and there shouldn't have been, because it was the truth.

US military forces are conducting airstrikes and killing civilians. Should we be outraged about someone's pointing that out or about the fact that US forces are killing civilians?

There's nothing 'mavericky' about supporting Saxby Chambliss.

What happened to Country First? This sounds like party before country.

So let me get this straight, you are shocked that McCain is campaigning for a man he finds reprehensible.

Have you learned nothing from your own blog?

It's probably best that you don't...just a bunch of damn liberal propaganda anyway.
