This is Ashley Todd, a McCain campaign volunteer from Pittsburgh. She made the national news Thursday night/Friday morning because a "big black man" robbed her, and then, seeing the McCain - Palin bumper sticker on her car, beat her up and carved a "B" onto her face. The "B" of course, was for Barack. That big black Barack supporter was going to show her, by god.
Except it didn't happen. It was a hoax. It was a lie. She is now under police custody.
I'm no detective, but I knew it was bullshit when I saw the backwards "B". Either she was attacked by one of the Little Rascals, I thought to myself, or she carved it into her own face while looking in a mirror.
How fucking stupid is this bitch? And how stupid was McCain's Pennsylvania Communications Director for calling every media outlet on Earth, telling the scary tale before he knew all of the facts? Even right wing blogger Michelle Malkin knew this was horseshit, but that didn't stop Matt Drudge, Sean Hannity, and other sleaze merchants from treating this as absolute fact.
Yeah, sorry about your luck Mr. Pennsylvania Communications Director, Matt Drudge, Sean Hannity, and assorted far right wingnuts. Your scare tactics didn't work this time.

It's mind-numbing, transparent bullshit.
I almost feel sorry for John McCain, allowing this to be his legacy.
Not that it is a moral equivalent, but a contractor doing work in my neighborhood stopped in front of my house while I was doing some work out front and commented the McCain sign in my yard. The contractor was a black man. "Hey, when is the cross burning?" he asked me, pointing at my McCain sign. I replied "What in the hell are you talking about?" His response was "I wondered why Wal-Mart was out of white sheets." Then he pulled off before I could say a word. This man was calling me a cross burning Klansman for having a McCain sign in my yard. I promptly wished testicular cancer on his disgraceful, racist ass. This is in addition to the 2 times that Obama supporters have stolen the McCain sign from my yard. So much for the whole argument that Democrats are pro free speech. That's only if you are drinking the same Kool Aid they are.
Clean up on aisle five, repeat, we have troll shit on aisle five.
Nice story, and you tell it well, but it really doesn't have anything to do with this crazy woman making up an attack and having a paid employee of the McCain campaign promote the story to the media.
VRWC,
I agree with you that is crap.
I will also say that sign stealing goes both ways in my neighborhood and that is crap too.
We should be able to support who we want to and respectfully disagree with whom we don't.
Of course it's crap. I should have said that in my response. Sorry.
I know VRWC has nothing against black people. However, he does "hate them thievin' Swedes."
I'm sorry that happened to you, VRWC. Every election, things get ugly.
I don't think we should call this particular young woman names because it seems she's got some mental health issues. I am angry that some "win at all costs" campaign staff member jumped at this and started alerting the media.
Not only did he stoke racial fires that should have been extinguished long ago, but he put his own campaign at risk and is putting a girl with health issues under the glare of media attention when she need it the least.
He's the one who should be ashamed.
Alert the media! A black man said something nasty to a white guy!
Oh the humanity!
I weep real tears for the pain and suffering cast upon this man.
(Big angry black man should've asked about the book burning, too. That's on the Palin side of the ticket).
I bet Joe the Plumber actually beat her up! You just watch and wait!
VRWC, Obama signs get just as much abuse, if not more, as McCain signs. As for the man who came to your yard, after seeing this video, I can totally understand his concern. He had every right to ask you that question considering "the whole argument that Democrats are pro free speech."
But she looks like such a nice white girl...
It seems an AWFUL lot of people are making up horseshit stories of all kinds, especially up here in Illinois. Yeah, the Backwards B also made me think Shenanigans when i first read the story.
Idiots support both candidates sadly, so no one can claim the high ground in this election.
And VRWC - i'm no McCain lover but i wouldn't have blamed you for telling that guy to "suck my balls"
I think election signs should be electrified so people get a pants- shitting shock when they grab them.
I'm tracy and i approve this message.
I didn't justify it, I think what he did was wrong as that kind of confrontation only breeds more hate and anger. However, what I am saying is that after seeing the kind of people who are supporting McCain and Palin from that video - I can understand why he would think their supporters are racists.
I hope you'll understand my declining of your kind invitation.
We had blogger Bubs and his wife over Friday night, and we were talking about this. He hadn't heard yet that it was revealed as a hoax. He said that he'd figured it out when he saw the picture of her-- the fact that the "B" was backward. She'd obviously done it in a mirror.
BTW, a blogger I read had her Obama sign stolen from her front lawn. I guess this means that Republicans are against free speech.
For my part, I live in a big city; people steal things. My kids wanted a lawn sign, but I opted for a sign in the front window and some buttons for them.
Totally disgusting.
I'd hit it.
The black eye looks suspiciously like eyeshadow too..
