I'm not going to mention the name of the Virgina Tech shooter on this blog; nor will I show his picture. He doesn't deserve any publicity, not even posthumously; and not even on a small-time blog.
It pisses me off that news organizations aired his "explanation". I fear this will encourage other cesspool-minded parasites who resent their station in life to do something drastic in order to achieve "fame" upon death.
I didn't watch his video, but the headlines of the local paper implied that he was bullied as a teenager. BooFUCKINGhoo! "Hey, everyone who ever got a melvin or a purple nurple from some schoolyard meathead, feel free to shoot up your school or place of business. You've been victimized." Come on, who hasn't been bullied? Even among bullies there's a pecking order, so the lesser bullies are terrorized by the alpha bully. And where there's an alpha bully, there's usually a parent who uses said alpha bully's ass as an ashtray.
And yes, I realize the gunman was mentally disturbed. If he had killed ONLY himself, even if he did it Jeremy-style in front of a crowd, I'd feel sorry for the guy.
However, this is how it is in a civilized society:
-If you die for a noble cause, you're a martyr.
-If you sacrifice your life so that others may live, you're a hero.
-If you kill yourself, you're a tragic figure.
But if you go around ending the lives of innocent people and then blow your own face off to avoid the consequences, you're a cowardly piece of human filth.
Sorry, those are the rules. If you don't want to abide by them, at least have the courtesy to not involve us when you decide to stop living.

amen.
Hey, gun nuts, why was a resident alien, non-citizen, who was found mentally ill twice by a judge able to buy a handgun so easily. He was not a citizen. Should he be protected by The Constitution? He did not even have to pay for the guns. He put them on his Visa, knowing he would never have to pay the bill. The Government has databases on us all, but some tool who was found insane in a public forum, i.e. court, just has to check "No" on the handgun form asking if he were ever diagnosed with a mental illness, and that is sufficient. Aliens, illegal, legal, or from Uranus, should not be allowed to buy or possess fireaems.
I second the amen....my thoughts exactly!!
I couldn't agree more, Todd. I curse, loudly and angrily, everytime they show his picture on tv.
Why don't they talk about the professor who was trying to find a cure for cerebral palsy? Or the professor who survived the concentration camps only to give up his life protecting the students? And of course, the students themselves. How sad that the killer is being glamorized, while the victims fall by the wayside - again.
I was happy to see that the families and the surviving victims took a stance and did NOT allow themselves to be interviewed by NBC. NBC is responsible for airing the video in it's entirety with the blood of all of those innocent people on it's hands.
Here-here.
Well said. Thanks.
I agree that he should not be getting the publicity. Why was his picture on the front page of my newspaper? It shouldn't have been...
Pentimental:
Because someone dropped the ball.
And you should drop the term "gun nut." Do I refer to you as a "cherry picking civil rights violator?" NO...
I agree. Non-Citizens should not be able to purchase firearms.
He lied on his NCIC, and the shop didn't catch it (may have not run it at all). But the NCIC should have stopped him from getting a handgun, and I am upset by the fact that it didn't. We need stricter enforcement on these violations so that shops don't DARE fail.
Nah, gun nut is correct. You could call me that, but it would be innacurate and grammmatically incorrect, as it should be cherry-picking civil rights violator. The only civil rights being violated today are by the right wing. The left, while admittedly anti gun, has protected more civil rights through groups like the ACLU and The People for the American Way. The Patriot Act is a gross violation of civil rights, along with the broad presidential powers currently being interpreted with signing statements. Owning a gun is not a civil right, but it is a constitutional one. Look, we live in a gun culture. There is no way we could ever eliminate them. I would not want to try, but to me a gun nut is someone whose response to this debacle is to express a desire to arm every teacher and student. That is crazy. Do you really want liberal professors and drunken college students co-mingling with firearms? This insane non-citizen should never have been allowed anywhere near a firearm.
Very well said. Hasn't there already been threats of copycat attacks?
The media should never have aired his ramblings. It was irresponsible in the extreme, let alone what an affront it must have been to the families of the victims.
here, here!
oh and by the way, i was tortured by bullies in fifth grade and they made me miserable for years. you don't see me doing anything horrific in retaliation. nope. i'm on meds and go to therapy once a week like a normal person.
Well said, You Royal Toddness.
Brooke, they DID do a piece on the guy who survived the concentration camps on one of the stations. I cried when I saw it, because it just seems so fuckin' wrong that someone who survived the Holocaust should die at the hands of a coward.
Damn Skippy!
I love that you have feelings and show emotion. I love that you can speak your mind with intelligence and deep understanding. We need more men like you.
Everyone's so paranoid now. There were at least 6 schools in my area on lock-down since it happened for various reasons. Shippensburg Univeristy was on lock down for a suspicious package next to a dumpster which turned out to be recycling. Sad that these poor kids have to live in fear.
kendra,
bless you, my child.
pentimental,
his name would have been in a database, so it's obvious the check wasn't even ran.
tumbleweed,
hey, I haven't seen you in a while. Come back again when we aren't discussing a tragedy.
Brooke,
the media loves an easy story.
blonde,
whoever made that decision at NBC should be fired.
canadian sadie,
thanks for the support.
builder mama,
you're welcome.
tits,
in light of this event, I won't make an awkward pass at you. This time only.
stormin,
it doesn't bother me that people own guns to, uh, do whatever they do with them, hunt squirrels and such, but the country was a different place when the founding fathers wrote the second amendment. I don't hold that amendment as sacred as I do the first amendment, I'll admit.
I only use "gun nut" for people who insist on having armor-piercing bullets and automatic weapons. If you aren't a member of the military or a police officer, you don't need those.
Any shop that doesn't follow the system should be closed permanently, period.
pentimental,
the problem I have with the ACLU is their insistence on defending child molesters. It isn't anyone's civil right to molest a child.
steph,
there was a bomb threat here in my hometown, at the University of Louisville.
kate,
you took the right path with the meds and weekly therapy. Society thanks you.
melissa,
the Holocaust survivor died saving the lives of his students. A hero to the very end.
nick,
who said I had to comment? I SAID I HAD TO COMMENT. If you wish to not comment on your own blog, good for you.
flounder,
fuckin' a!
kat,
I just saw on TV that people who call in threats to colleges aren't punished as severely as those who make threats in an airport, etc. That should change.
I'd even go a little further and say he was an asshole.
I got bullied pretty good when my family moved from Chicago to a suburb. My response to it has been to hate bullies.
Well said!
I watched the video on Yahoo.com. Before and after, there was a commercial for Netflix. Surreal.
